Maintaining Golf Trolley and Golf Trolley Battery

The electric golf trolley is now considered a required item of golfing equipment for all regular golfers, rather than a luxury. A golf trolley reduces the risk of back and neck muscle injuries caused by carrying a heavy golf bag around the golf course.

As for all sports equipment, an electric golf trolley requires care and maintenance for it to continue to function optimally. The wheels, clutch and golf trolley battery need to be cleared of mud, grass and other debris, preferably after each round of golf. Golf batteries are the primary source of power for golf trolleys and therefore, require proper maintenance and charging for lasting performance.

Special care should be taken to make sure that your golf trolley battery is charged in the correct manner. The life of a trolley battery depends on the frequency of use and whether it gets charged correctly after each time it is used. A new battery should be charged for at least 24 hours to activate it before use, even if the 'charge completed' light comes on before the time is over. After every game of golf it should be properly charged. It is not recommended to keep the battery connected to the charger with the mains switched off.

During the winter months or extended periods that your electric golf trolley is not required, the golf trolley battery should be stored properly. It should be fully charged, removed from the charger and stored at a room temperature of between ten to thirty degrees Celsius. A golf trolley battery should be recharged every three months at least.
